The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), is expected to meet in Abuja on Thursday, September 14, 2017.
It is understood that the meeting is aimed to adopt a position on the concessions offered by the Nigerian government.

The union embarked on the strike on August 13 over issues of poor funding, welfare of its members and the failure of the federal government to honour aspects of past agreements it had with its members.
Meanwhile, the striking university lecturers have recently agreed to consider the federal government’s offer and suspend their strike.
Last week Friday, the negotiation team of ASUU had requested one week to submit the government’s offers to its members for consultation and report back to government.
A source in the union informed PREMIUM TIMES that the national leadership of ASUU will meet on Thursday to decide whether the strike action be called off or continued.
“NEC will hold a decisive meeting tomorrow and will collate the outcome of all branch meetings held,” the source, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak with journalists on the issue said on Wednesday.
The strike action also dealt a huge blow to applicants as the management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) announced that it has postponed indefinitely its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) earlier scheduled for Sept. 18 to Sept. 22.
